License SNH-942 was renewed on May 15, 1981, in response to your May 9, 1979 application and supplements thereto. A renewal fee of $11,100 was paid for review of the application, per fee Category 1G of 1170.31 of the enclosed 10 CFR 170.
In accordance with Footnotes 1(c) and 4 of 1170.31, we have reviewed the L
manpower expenditures required for review of the subject application, and t
the actual review cost is $13,376. Since the maximum fee for renewal of i
licenses in fee category 1G is $11,100, no additional fee is required.
In a furthar review of License SNM-942, we find that the license authorizes, in addition to U-235 and U-233, a maximum quantity of 200 grams of plutonium.
1 Nonnally, licenses which authorize the " possession and use of 200 grams but less than 2 kg of plutonium in unsealed form" would be subject to the fee Category IF. However, because Condition 17 of the license limits the maximum quantity of plutonium which Battelle may possess to 1.5 grams, we have classi-fied License SNM-942 in fee Categories 1G (for the U-233 and U-235) and 11 (forplutonium). Please be informed, however, that if the plutonium possession restriction in Condition 17 of your license is removed, the license would then be subject to fee Categories IF and 1G, unless Condition 8A. of your license is amended to authorize less than 200 grams of plutonium.
