Ulitization of ASME Code Case N-235 NRC Docket-Nos.- 50-454/455/456/457

Dear Mr. Denton:

This is to inform you of our intent to make use of ASME Code Case N-235, regarding calibration checks using automated ultrasonic examination systems.

A copy of the approved Code Case is attached.

This Code Case was approved by the ASME Council on January 8,

1979.

It allows more efficient construction by extending the calibration interval for automatic ultrasonic examination systems.

Commonwealth Edison requests that the NRC staff acknowledge acceptability of the Code Case'for immediate use at Byron and Braidwood Stations.

One (1) original and thirty-nine (39) copies of this. letter letter and the attachment are enclosed for your use.
