SUBJECT:
DOCKET NO. 71-9132 Model T-3 Shipping Cask
Dear Mr. MacDonald:
Enclosed are Revision 6 amendments to the T-3 Safety Analysis Report.
Eight copies of the amended pages plus instructions for their incorporation are attached.
Revision 6 addresses two separate subjects.
The first des-cribes a holddown ring attached to the inside of the contain-ment wall to restrain payload li-s while the payload is being extracted.
The means by which this ring is held in place along with a description of a modified shield plug used to provide clearance for the ring is illustrated on the revised SAR drawing.
Text of this change and anpropriate analyses are provided on pages 0-6, 1-6b, 1-6b (1) through (4), 1-23a and 1-23b, and 4-2, 4-5, and 4-11a.
The remaining pages of this Revision 6 provide a more concise description of the contents and payloads envisioned for the T-3 cank.
This has necessitated appropriate changes and clarifications to Section 4.0 (Shielding) and Section 5.0 (Criticality).
It is requested that a revised Certificate of Compliance be issued to include the cask contents des-cribed in Section 0.2.3 (page 0-7).
Currently, the Certif-icate of Compliance lists, as the cask contents, worst case representations of fuel payloads which were originally pos-tulated for design purposes only.
As an additional request, we ask that the Certificate of Con-pliance contain a statement that the cask is authorized to j
carry up to 200,000 curies of mixed fission nroducts and
