Description of Event

On June 23, 1981 with the Unit in Mode 1, fifteen hose stations in the Auxiliary Building (T.S. Table 3.7-7) were removed from service contrary to T.S. 3.7.14.5.

This event is reportable pursuant to T.S.

6.9.1.9.b.

Probable Consequences of Occurrence The operablility of the fire suppression system ensures that adequate fire protection is available to confine and extinquish fires occurring in any portion of the facility where safety related equipment is located.

Since fire hoses from unaffect d hose stations were provided to the Auxiliary Building with equi ent capacity as required by T.S. 3.7.14.5 prior to draining the hose stations, the health and safety of the public were not affected.

Cause of Event

The Auxiliary building segmen't of the main fire loop was isolated and drained to perform a new modification tie-in.

Immediate Corrective Action

Fire hoses of equivalent capacity were routed into the Auxiliary Building to provide protection to safety related equipment. When the tie-in was completed, the Auxiliary Building hose stations were returned to service.
