Dear Administrative Judges:
This letter is being writtun by the Staff in connection with the l'otion for Protective Order Regarding Production of Documents filed by Pacific Gas and Electric Cocpany (PG&E) on July 6,1981.
In that Motion, PG&E asked the Board to stay discovery pending the final disposition of the Joint l'otion by fiRC Staff and PC&E for the Suspension of Discovery (Joint ibtion). On July 13, 1981, subsequent to the filing of PG&E's Motion for Protective Order, the Licensing Board denied PG&E's earlier Request for Certification to the Appeal Board of the issue of the suspension of discovery requested in the Joint flotion.
Because of the limited role to be taken by the Staff in this proceeding, the Staff does not intend to file a pleading setting forth a position on the discovery issues raised by PG&E's liotion for a Protective Order.
