STIPULATION RELATING TO S0C DISCOVERY REQUEST TO NRC STAFF - MOTION FOR APPROVAL 1.

On July 2,1981, Intervenor Shoreham Opponents Coalition (SOC) submitted discovery requests to the NRC Staff (Staff).E 2.

Subsequent to submission of the requests in question, Counsel for S0C and Staff conferred by telephone and have agreed to resume meeting for purposes of informal discovery and negotiations with regard to SOC's various contentions in this proceeding.

The first such meeting is scheduled to take place on July 27, 1981. Applicant may also attend the meeting.

Without waiving any rights or remedies either party may have 3.

under 10 C.F.R. Part 2, SOC and Staff stipulate.and agree that, pending the above described meeting, further action as to SOC's discovery requests by either party or the Board should be held in abeyance.U 1/

" SOC's First Set of Interrogatories and Requests for Production of Documents to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission Staff."

Staff has preliminarily reviewed SOC's discovery requests and, for the most part, has determined that it will voluntarily provide the requested information.

Accordingly, S0C and Staff move the Board to approve the agree-ment set forth in this Stipulation.U If the Board approves this Stipu-lation, Staff counsel will file a status report with the Board by August 7, 1981, concerning the status of informal discovery and other matters between SOC and Staff.

Approval of this Stipulation will not delay commencement of the hearings in this proceeding since (a) hearing Jates have not yet been set by the Board and (b) are not likely to be set in the near term i.e. within at least the next 90 days.
