Dear Mr'Guinn:

Because of diffi.culties of disposing of plutonium wastes centaining greater than.10 nCiPu/gm.,-three changes are necessary in the procedures outlined

'in my letter of February '.2, 1981. They arc as follous:

1.

Plutonium present in_ glass -cubes sent to the U.S.G.S. for leaching studies.will remain the property of D03, and all wastes generated from these' studies will be returned to DOE for ultimate disposal.

2.

Wastes resulting from studies of commercial radioactive waste disposal sites will contain less than 10 nCiPu/gm. These wastes will be shipped to a commercial vaste disposal site.

3.

All radioactive wastes, from either source, will be solidified and stored in appropriate drums in Room 151, Building 15 prior to shipment.
