Dear Mr. Keppler:
In response to IE Bulletin No. 81-03, Public Service Company of Indiana, Inc. (PSI) has determined that no Mytilus sp. have been reported near Ma: ole Hill in the Ohio River, the source and receiving water for the statior..
However, quarterly aquatic studies performed since 1977 have shown low density populations of Corbicula sp. in the Ohio River near Marble Hill.
At this time no potentially affected systems have been filled with river water. Water being used during the construction phase for fire protection, potable water, and other construction uses is obtained from wells.
PSI is currently investigating methods of prevention and detection of Cor-bicula sp. buildup in water systems at Marble Hill. Due to the complexity of this investigation, PSI needs additional time to complete the requirements of this bulletin. PSI therefore requests an extension to August 21, 1981 to respond to this bulletin.
