METEOROLOGICAL SYSTEM DESCRIPTION POINT BEACH NUCLEAR PLANT, UNITS 1 AND 2 According to guidance received from the U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission at the May 6, 1981 Glen Ellyn, Illinois, meeting on meteorological factors for emergency preparedness, the due date for submittal of a functional description of the upgraded meteorological system and schedule for installation and operation is to be extended to January 1, 1982.
However, we understand that the Commission has not yet ruled on that extension.
On January 9, 1981, we submitted conceptual design irformation on the interim system for Point Beach Nuclear Plant and subsequently commenced work on the design of the final system.
The specification work is approaching completion, after which vendor propostls will be solicited and schedules for delivery and i
installation will be developed.
Accordingly, we have not been able to meet the July 1, 1981 submittal date specified in Annex 1 to Appendix 2 of NUREG-0654.
We expect to be able to provide all the meteorological system information required by NUREG-0654 on or before the proposed extension date of January 1, 1982.
We trust this extension is acceptable to the Staff.
