.'A, x~ ---- j NIPSCO's Response in Opposition to Illinois' Motion for Extension of Time On June 22, 1981, NIPSCO filed its "Second Motion to Com-pel Answers to Its Second Set of Interrogatories to Illinois."

Under NRC regulations, Illinois' response, if any, to the Motion was due on July 7, 1981. On that date, Illinois mailed a " Motion for Extension of Time" to the Board and parties. The Motion requests an extension to July 13. In support of the re-quest, counsel for Illinois state that " illness and responsi-bilities in other cases" have resulted in " limiting the time necessary to respond to NIPSCO's motion."

In our view, the proferred justification is insufficient.

We urge the Board to grant the Second Motion to Compel Answers without delay.

Respectfully submitted, o3 LOWENSTEIN, NEWMAN, REIS I
