Dear Mr. Keppler:
MONTICELLO NUCLEAR GENERATING PLANT Docket No. 50-263 License No. DPR-22 M
The following is submitted as supplemental information regarding I. E.
Bulletin No. 80-06:
In the letter to Mr. James G. Keppler, NRC, from Mr. D. E. Gilberts, NSP, dated June 16, 1980, it was stated that:
"With respect to Item 2, testing to verify that all equipment remains in its emergency mode upon removal and/or manual resetting of the ESF actuation signal will be completed prior to or during the refueling outage scheduled for April, 1981."
Testing has been completed with the exception of the Recirc Pump Discharge Bypass Valve, MO 2-54B, which was inoperable during ESF testing. The valve will be tested during the 1981 fall maintenance outage.
All equipment remained in its emergency mode except for one valve in the HPCI system. The HPCI Test Return Control Valve, CV 3503, opened upon removal of the ESF actuating signal. A redundant valve on the same line, M0 2071, remained in the closed position. A design change will be pursued that will insure that the valve remains closed. Assuming needed equipment is available, the modifications will be installed during the 1982 refueling outage.
Yours truly,
(
