OPPOSITION TO MARBLE HILL NITCLEAR POWER PLANT The Marble Hill Nuclear Generating Plant that is being constructed by Public Service Indiana has been beset by numerous environmental and safety problems.

The site is located in a seismical'.y active area only ten miles upwind from Madi-son, Indiana and thirty miles uprNec of Louisville,' Kent ucky, making those two population centers the likely recipients of low-level radiation discharged into the air and e,ater.

Th = proposed on-site storage of radioactive waste in lagoons has the potential to contaminate ground water in the immediate area and subsequently to pollute the Ohio. River. The proposed cooling towers are anticipated to produce an inter-acting effect with air pollutants from coal-fired plants west of the site, leading to adverse effects on orchards and othe)

' ant life ir. the Marbie Hill vicinity, exacerbating acid rain problems east of the area. There exists no satisfactory plan for disposal of radioactive waste to be produced by the plant, and there are severe problems in the proposed evacuation plan in the event of an emergency.

l BE IT RESOLVED, by the Indiana Division, Izaak Walton League of America, in convention assembled this 14th day of June,1981, at Merri11ville, Indiana, that 1

Marble Hill Nuclear Generating Plant should not be built.
