Re fe re ceu : (a) License No. DPR-36 (Docket No. 50-309)
,ay (b) USNRC Letter to MYAPC da ted April 30, 1981' ',,
N Y l3,.,;
Dear Sir:
Your letter, Reference (b), issued License Amendment No. 55 to Maine Yank ee. The Safety Evaluation Report which documented the sta ff 's short and long-term recommendations contained six open items which require additional information from Maine Yankee.
During a conversation with Mr. Requa on June 17, 1981 it was pointed out that a response to these open items would be delayed until August 14, 1981.
This additional time is necessary because of the extent of engineering involvement in the current reiueling as necessitated by the many TMI and other plant design changes being installed during this outage.
In addition, >bine Yankee requires more time to thoroughly examine the new requirement for AFW flow automatically without AC dependencv, and the ability to sustain that flow for two hours.
If you have any questions please cor '
-t us.
Very m ay yours, MAINE YANKEE ATOMIC POWER COMPANY fMt---.
