NRC INSPECTION 50-272/80-31 SALEM GENERATING STATION UNIT NO. 1 In response to your inspection conducted by Dr. Jin W.
Chung during the period November 17-21, 1980, we committed to a June 1, 1981, date for full compliance to Administrative Procedure No. 3 regarding the review of all Operating Instructions.
To date the review status is as follows:
i a)
One hundred thirty-one (131) Operating Instructions have been completed.
i b)
One hundred twenty-four (124) Operating Instructions have been reviewed / revised and are in routing for final approval.
l Of these Instructions fifty-four (54) do not meet the AP-3 requirements for review.
c)
One procedure has not been reviewed / revised as of this date.
The required review date for this procedure is June 29, 1981.

Griet 6/1/81 Due to forced outages of Unit 1 and Fire Protection Program studies for Unit 2 start-up, the necessary reviews of the operating Instructions could not be completed as scheduled.
Therefore, we are requesting an extension to September 1, 1981, for full compliance.
