'4111ats (BG&E) on March 2h,1981 Gentlemen:
In our initial response to TUPEG-0737, reference (a), we declined to connit to performing a post-accident chloride analysis as required by Iten II.B.3.
Our position was that inmediate analysis was untec o ary and the concenitant radiation dose to the individual conducting the sample vould therefore be unjustified. We understand that chloride analysis may provide useful information for evaluating the potential for chloride stress corrosion, and that this information may be needed before startup can be contenplated.
Therefore, we vill install post-accident chloride sampling canability.
As a result of telephone conversations between !'r. C. "cCracken and Mr. S. J. Willata (references (b) and (c)), we have learned that you still believe that the chloride s tmples must be perforred as originally specified in ?aTRm-0737 in spite of ALARA considerations.
Serefore, we vill no lonrer take exception to the requirements of Iten II.B.3.
Sincerely,
/
