Dear Mr. Pomano:
This is in reference to a possible meeting with you to discuss the effects of quarry blasting near the Limerick site. It was our purpose in suggesting a meeting to allow you to have an in-depth discussion with several of our experts in the areas of geology, blasting effects, concrete and structures at our offices he in Bethesda, Maryland. As Mr. Calkins pointed out on the phone on April 29, it will not be practical to have all of these specialists travel there at this time.
It is our plan, as Mr. Calkins indicated, to address possible effects of quarry blasting as one of the questions during the safety review in con-nection with the application of Philadelphia Electric Coppany for operating licenses for Limerick Units 1 and 2.
These safety reviews will be done by our technical staff and consultants during the period between the accept-ance review, which is now being conducted, and before any decision relative to an operating license.
Your various comments on the prob?em of possible effects of quarry blasting have been made a part of the official record and will be considered during the detailed review of this specific issue. If you have further comments on this or other matters we will be pleased to hear from you.
