Dear Mr. Helfrich:

.M This is further to my April 13 letter tc you regarding an application from the Department of Energy (DGE) for a license to export 44 kilograms of special nuclear ma*.erial to Canad-for use in work related to the Naval Reactor light water fast breeder prograc (XSNM01805).

DOE has requested that the license be issued by June i so that prec ammatic and shipping arrangements can be completed prior to the scheduled August refueling of the NRX reactor.

In order to try and accommocate this recuest, we would need to receive the Executive Branch's views en the license application by May 1.
