NRC STAFF MOTION FOR EXTENSION OF TIME TO ANSWER INTERVENOR DOHERTY'S MOTION FOR RECONSIDERATION OF THIS AMENDED CONTENTION 21 On February 23, 1981, Intervenor Doherty filed a notion for reconsideration seeking the inclusion of his a ended Contention 21, which concerns derating of the reactor, in the upcoming safety hearing.
Service to the NRC Staff was accomplished by hand-delivery to Staff counsel at the environmental hearing in Houston, Texas.
Staf f's answer to this motion would nornally be due on March 10, 1981.
Since Staff counsel has been engaged in evidentiary hearings in Houston, Texas, fron February 23 to March 6,1981, the NRC Staff has not had adequate time to properly coordinate the review effort needed to respond to this motion.1/ Accordingly, the Staff requests an extension of time of two weeks to fiarch 24, 1981, in which to file its answer to Doherty's notion 1/
Similarly, the Allens Creek Licensing Project Manager for the NRC Staff has been absent from the office from February 23, 1981, to March 2,1981, as a result of the Allers Creek hearing.

safety hearings in this proceeding nor prejudice the rights of any party.
In this regard, counsel for the Applicant has advised that it does not oppose this motion.
