fl0TICE OF ISSUANCE OF AMEriDMEf1T TO FACILITY OPERATING LICENSE The U. S. fluclear Regulatory Commission (the Commission) has issued Amendment flo. 53 to Fac.ility Operating License No. DPR-36, issued to Maine Yankee Atomic Power Cortpany, which added a license condition and revised Technical Specifications for operation of the Maine Yankee Atomic Power Station (the facility) located in Lincoln County, Maine.

The amendment is effective as of its date of issuance.

The amendment adds a license condition to require a Secondary Water

' Chemistry Monitoring program and revises the Technical Specifications to allow steam generator tube leakage of-1 gpm,'and add a low temperature overpressurization surveillance requirement.

The applications'for the amendment _ comply with the standards and requirements of the Atomic Energy Act of 1954, as amended (the Act), and-the Commission's rules and regulations. The Commission has made appropriate findings as. required by the Act and the Commission's rules and regulations

- in 10 CFR Chapter I, which are. set forth in the license amendment.

Prior public-notice of this amendment was not required.since the amendment does not. involve a significant hazards consideration.

O 7590-01 The Corrnission has determined that the issuance of this amendment will not result in any significant environmental impact and that pursuant to 10 CFR 551.5(d)(4) an environmental impact statement, or negative declaration and environmental impact appraisal need not be prepared in connection with issuance of this amendment.

For further details with respect to this action, see (1) the application for amendment dated June 24, 1977, September 13, 1979 and October 16, 1979, (2),bendment flo. 53 to License No. DPR-36, and (3) the Commission's related letter dated February 27, 1981. All of these items are available for public inspection at the Commission's Public Document Room, 1717 H Street, N. W.
