Dear Mr. Grier:

Our letter dated April 17, 1980 indicated the corrective actions taken or planned concerning the items of noncompliance identified in Inspection Report 80-05.

Your letter of August 11, 1980 listed addi-tional corrective actions which we agreed to undertake in order to improve the control of procedure revisions and temporary changes.

One of these additional actions was to establish a " log room" to assure the use of current precedures.

We have informed our Resident Inspector that this planned action would not be completed by the original target date of December 31, 1980.

This letter provides the status of this item as well as a new date for completion.

To adequately address this task, we felt that first an analysis of our current system and procedures and a detailed reco== ended course cf action was necessary.

This analysis was performed by Stone & Webster Engineering Corporation.

Their rtoort provided a proposed new system and included a document control precedure as well as facility layout and equipment recom=endations.

The report was received in Decec6:r # n-Station review.

Some items under consideration involve the procuring of additional materisls and equipment z.t considerable expense and/or extensive lead times for procurement.

This did not allow sufficient time to adequately review and implement the recommendations of the report prior to the original target date.

Due to the vast amount of work which had to be accomplished during our recent outage, the modification and preparation of the intended

" log room" could not be done.

Efforts have since been initiated to begin this work.

The methods of procedure control currently being used will remain in effect until a new system can be placed in operation.

If you have any questions concerning this response, please contact my office.

Very truly yours, 04 h - -
