r South Texas Project Units 1&2 Docket Nos, STN 50-498, STN 50-499 AWS Safety Related Welding 12 Week Work Plan Pursuant to references (a) and (b), the restart of Category 1 (AWS Dl.1)
Structural Steel Welding commenced on October 6,1980 with welding on approximately 200 cable tray supports at Elev. 35'-0" in Relay Room 202 of the Unit 1 Mechanical - Electrical Auxiliary Building. The reexamination and repair of previously completed AWS safety-related welding also began in this area.
Relative to further AWS safety-related welding, a welding work plan has been developed for the 4th Quarter,1980. This work plan, submitted as Attachment I to this letter, identifies additional production welding to be perfomed as well as the estimated time frame for perfoming the work.
On line "Y" of the work plan, structural steel for embeds up to 1 " thickness will be welded. All other structural steel welding will be restricted to thickness not to exceed 3/4 inch. Your office will be notified of our plans for welding metal other than line "Y" items which are greater that 3/4 inch i
thick.

This work plan is considered the second phase in our efforts to eventu-ally achieve full production of welding on a nomal basis. Also identified on the work plan are reexamination and repair activities which are planned to be perfomed concurrently with the production welding. As described in reference (a), reexamination and repair of previously completed AWS safety-l related welding will be perfomed over the next 12 months with completion Ng planned by October 15, 1981.
