Additional Response to IE Bulletin No. 80-17

Dear Sir:

This letter is written to inforn you that we have installed another check valve on the vent line for each scram discharge header.

Thus, we currently have 2 check valves in parallel on each header.

The new valves are identical to the previously installed valves. This item was previously discussed with members of your staff. We had agreed to install the valves as soon as practical after receipt of valves and no later than August 13 if the valves arrived on site by August 11.

The valves arrived on site on August 7 and they were installed August 8.

Supplement No. 1 to IE Bulletin No. 80-17 listed actions to be taken under Part A and a report to be submitted within 20 days. The above described modifications change the "as-built" conditions on the SDV vent system. The previous "as-built" conditions were presented to your representative at the July 30, 1980 meeting in the Region III Office.

As per a telephone conversation with Tom Westerman of your office, the response to Part A has been delayed until these changes are documented.

We expect this response to be submitted on August 13, 1980.

If you have any questions on this response, please contact L. C. Lessor at Cooper Nuclear Station.

Sincerely, s#1

'O J. M. Pilant
