SUB7ECT: PRELIMINARY A&lR DESIGN IEIAIL AUDIT As you are aware 10 CFR Part 52 requires applications for design certification be able to d.is. Late a level of design detail sufficient to allow the developnent. of procurement specifications and ve-Luction and installation specifications for a certified standard design. It is the intent of the staff to review the ABWR, in order to make the r civeary finding, through a design detail audit of the agugiate files in GE's San Jose Offices, m is letter is to notify you of a preliminary audit scheduled with your staff for February 14-15, 1990. The intent of this preliminary audit is to familiarize the staff with the ABWR files that will be available for a detailed team audit to be scheduled in the near future.
The preliminary audit team will be made qp of the following individuals:
E. Imbro, section leader, R. Parkhill, team 1*, H. Wang, structures, of the Vendor Inspection Brarrh; T. DalGaizo, mechanical systems, C. Crane, electrical systems, A. DuBouchet, mechanical ccmponents, J. I.civo, instrumentation and control, consultants; C. Miller, Director, Standardization and Life Extension Project Directorate; ard myself. We expect the morning of the first day to L
focus on a discussion of the ptrpoce of this audit, as tell as a presentation-by GE relative tc the ABWR design process and resultant level of detail.
