~ SQN is currently limited to using~ fuel assemblies having a maximum enrichment' of 4.0 weight-percent uranium (U)-235.
TVA plans to submit a proposed change i
to-the technical specifications (TSs) for SQN Units 1 and 2 to increase the maximum fuel enrichment from the current 4.0 weight-percent to F
5.0 weight-percent U-235.
This change will be necessary to allow the use of higher discharge burnup' fuel, Higher discharge burnups are achieved by reloading with smaller fresh batch fractions with higher enrichments.
The enclosed criticality analysis, which justifies an increase in the enrichment limit,.is being submitted in advance of the TS change submittal to provide NRC adequate time for review.
