The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) is publishing the following document in the Federal Register:
Title:
Revision of the NRC Enforcement Policy [NRC-2019-0242].
- Description of the document: The Federal Civil Penalties Inflation Adjustment Act of 1990, as amended by the Federal Civil Penalties Inflation Adjustment Act Improvements Act of 2015 (the Act), requires Federal agencies to annually adjust for inflation the civil monetary penalty amounts that the agency can assess. The NRC has separately published a final rule implementing the Act (NRC-2018-0048; RIN 3150-AK11); this document provides the corresponding update to the NRCs Enforcement Policy to reflect the new maximum civil monetary penalty amount.
- Dates: The effective date of this rule is January 15, 2020.
- This is not a major rule as defined by the Congressional Review Act.
