- At.0959 on. January 25,.1990, thu vater level in both fire protection water storage tanks was observed 19 he below the level required to meet-Technical Specification 3.7.11.1.

both fire protection water storage tanks decreasing below the required.

l minimum level. The_ rupture was promptly. isolated and level in the tanks increasad above the minimum value at 1150 on January 25, 1990. The minimum

. observed level in the. tanks was 23 and one half feet while the required i

- minimum level is 26 feet. There was no effect on the fire protection capability for any safety related equipment.

- The affected section of pipe vill be replaced.

Since the cause of the~

rupture was not readily apparent, the pipe vill be evaluated;to determine the'cause of failure.

- For,this event, Technical Specification 3.7.11.1 requires the'following Special Reports: a) notification by_ telephone within 24 hours2.777778e-4 days <br />0.00667 hours <br />3.968254e-5 weeks <br />9.132e-6 months <br />; b) confirmation by telegraph, mailgram or Escsimile no later-than the next vorking day; and c) in writing within 14 days following the event.

Telephone notification was made on January _25,i1990-and a facsimile report was transmitted on January 26, 1990. ThisLSpecial Report completes,the-notification requirements of Technical Specification 3.7.11.1.-
