Dear Mr. Carr,

Enclosed is an editorial opinion, written by me, which was published in the New York Times, Long Island edition, on Sunday, November 26, 1989. I hope it will be of interest to you.

I would especially like you, and other members of your Commission, to be aware that the decision to postpone consideration of the safety and evacuation questions about Shoreham were made by your predecessor agency, rather than being last-minute roadblocks devised by opponents of Shoreham.

It especially concerns me that many of those responsible for making key decisions on this matter have never visited Eastern Long Island, to see firsthand what a narrow peninsula it becomes out here -- and how very real our fears are.

Most of all, I hope these concerns will become moot in the very near future, and that we can look forward to a productive alternate use for that site.

Sincerely, l clLO h Y LINDA G. HOLMES encl:
