Agency (FDR) has canpleted an analysis of the prcept alert and notification syste for the Quad Cities Nuclear Power Station located near Cordova, Illinois. _ Wis zwiew has been aanpleted pursuant to Title 44 CFR, Part 350; selected evaluative criteria and Appendix 3 in NURED-0654/YDR-REP-1, Revision 1; and FDR-REP-10, the " Guide for the Evaluation of Alert and Notification ' Systems for Nuclear Power Plants." 2e enclosed report entitled, " Quad Cities Nuclear Power Station Site-Specific Offsite Radiological Emergency Preparedness Alert and Notification Syst m Quality Assurance Verification," sumarizes the engineerirg design

, . review; incorporates the results of the telephone survey of the public corv* v+M imediately . following full activation of the alert and notification system on August 5,1986; and confirms the adegacy of the applicable evaluative criteria from NUREG-06S4/IDE-REP-1, Revision 1, and FDR-REP-10.

Based on the ergineering design review and the results of the August 5, 1986, public telephone survey, FDR has determined that the alert and notification system installed around the Quad Cities Nuclear Power Station satisfies the requirements of NUREG-0654/FDR-REP-1, Revision 1, and FDE-REP-10. %erefore, there is now reasonable assurance that the system is adeqaate to prtmptly alert ard notify the public in the event of a radiological emergency at the site. We caveats on the Quad Cities alert and notification sy= tem contained in the Title 44 CFR, Part* 350, arprovals dated March 2,1984, ' for the Illinois Plan for Radiological Accidents, and March 26, 1986, for the Iowa Radiological Emergency Response - Plan, are now removed. %e Honorable James R.
