FOLLOW-UP ON STEAM BINDING 0F AFW PUMPS Enclosed is'a Technical Review report on retrospective study of operating experiences involving steam binding of AFW pumps. The study was initiated because of a concern whether licensee actions to prevent steam binding of AFW pumps were adequate following the issuance of Bulletin 85-01. This report indicates that none of the backleakage events that occurred after the issuance
'of the bulletin have resulted in the steam binding of an AFW pump.
It would seem appropriate to conclude that the actions taken by the licensees have been effective in monitoring and correcting the backleakages early enough to prevent any subsequent steam binding of the AFW pumps.
Therefore, no further AE0D action is needed.
