50-260 50-296 In response to NUREG-0737, Item II.D.1, this letter provides the results of a preliminary review of the generic BWR Safety / Relief Valve (S/RV) test program results to confirm the adequacy of the SiriV's for Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant. The S/RV test conditions are defined in the description submitted with the September 17, 1980 letter from D. B.
Waters to R. H. Vollmer. The preliminary data from the S/RV test program will be submitted on July 1, 1981, on behalf of the BWR Owners' Group in a letter from T. J. Dente to D. G. Eisenhut.
At the present time, the three-stage topworks have been replaced and Browns Ferry employs the two-stage Target Rock S/RV, Model No. 7567F.
However, we are still approved to use the three-stage topworks (Model No. 7467F) if the need arises. Based on a preliminary review of the generic BWR S/RV test program results, we believe that the tested valves satisfy the acceptance criteria for operability and that the operational adequacy of the Browns Ferry S/RV's (with both the two-and three-stage topworks) has been demonstrated.
