I am enclosing a resolution which was unanimously adopted at the 1981 Annual Meeting of Somerset: Rural Electric Cooperative, Inc., held in Somerset on Friday, June 12, 1981. The meeting was attended by over 700 persons, including 330 registered members.
The resolution urges the retum to service of Three Mile Island Unit One, and proceeding as quickly as possible on clean.-up activities for Unit Two.

A RE SO LU TIO N WHEREAS, Two years have passed since the accident at Three Mile Island Unit Two, and WHEREAS, Neither the federal nor the state government has acted to bring TMI Unit One - the undamaged unit - back into operation and to alleviate the problems created by the accident at TMI Unit Two, and t
WHEREAS, Edch day TMI Unit One is out of operation, consumers--
including rural electric member / consumers in Pennsylvania and New Tsrsey--
must pay over $500,000 to purchase replacement power that would otherwise be provided by TMI-I, and WHEREAS, By not addressing the issue of clean-up at TMI Unit Two,
.the federal and state governments permit a potentially dangerous health and safety problem to continue to threaten citizens of Central Pennsylvania, THEREFORE, be it RESOLVED, By the membership of Somerset Rural Electric Cooperative, Inc., acting legally at their 42nd Annual Membership Meeting, that we call on the federal and state governments to immediately address the problems created by the accident at Three Mile Island Unit Two, and be it further RESOLVED, That we ask the Nuclear Regulatory Commission to allow TMI Unit One, the undamaged unit, to be returned to commercial service as soon as possible so as to reduce the unnecessary costs consumers are paying for replacement power, and be it further RESOLVED, That we ask that clean-up activities at TMI Unit Two proceed as quickly as possible so that potential health and safety problems can be eliminated and this unit can be returned to commercial operation, and be it further RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution be sent to the President of the United States, the Secretary of the United States Department of Energy, the Chairman of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, the members of the United States Senate and House of Representatives that represent Somerset Rural Electric Cooperative, Inc., the Governor of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, the Lieutenant Governor of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, and the members of the Pennsylvania State Senate and House of Representatives that serve Somerset Rural Electric Cooperative, Inc.
