Dear Mr. Denton:

'f,g

/ cyr@ f This is in reference to your letter addre sed to Mr. Wendell J. Kelley dated May 29, 1981 regarding Docket Nos. 50-461/462.

The letter was received by Illinois Power Company on June 5, 1981.

We have examined Clinton schedule information as presented in the table attached to your above referenced letter. We find this information consistent with our current forecast of January 1983 fuel load dates.

Illinois Power Company is required by the Illinois Commerce Commission (ICC) to file monthly status reports on the Clinton project. In our latest filing with the ICC, dated May 29, 1981, the Company reported that certain critical path activities are estimated to be 61 days behind schedule. However, the project management team constantly monitors critical path activities and introduces corrective measures. We believe that the actions that have been initiated will improve the schedule. We are continuing to work to our scheduled fuel load date of January 1983.

We will comply with your "equest to provide your office with quarterly updates on the status of the Clinton construction i schedule. Our next update will be submitted in September 1981.

Sincerely, W

L. J. Koch Vice President f
