It. has recently come to my attention there is a national letter-writing campaign asking for the re-starting of Unit 1 at the Three-Mile Island nuclear site.
Upon reading of this campaign, I feel compelled to offer my opposition to any re-starting of Unit 1, and urge the site be permanently closed. I have real the investigative reports of the President 8 s Committee on TMI, and feel it would be ridiculous for the NRC to allow the same management who allowed Unit 2 to almost melt down to run Unit 1.
Please don't.
To be perfectly frank, I would like the NRC to assume a greater watch-dog role throughout the entire nuclear industry.
I would particularly like for the NRC to more closely monitor the management of the Rancho Seco Nuclear Facility in Californials central valley. As a resident of Sacramento, I am very : ware this system is of similar construction to TMIf s, and worry we may be the nuclear disaster the Presidentis Co.uittee predicted.
