This refers to the routine safety inspection conducted by Mr. W. P. Reichhold of this office on June 3, 1981, of activities authorized by NRC Byproduct Material License No. 24-15097-01 and to the telephone conversation concerning our findings with you on June 12, 1981.
The inspection was an examination of activities conducted under your license as they relate to radiation safety and to compliance with the Commission's rules and regulations and with the conditions of your license.
The inspection consisted of a selective examination of procedures and representative records, observations, independent measurements, and interviews with personnel.

Item H of the December 6,1977, inspection is a repeat item of noncompliance and identified in Appendix A, Item 3.
Our inspector expressed concern over an activity which appears to be in conflict with accepted radiological safety practices, as documented in Report 48 of the National Council on Radiatior Frotection, Section 5.1, page 29.
In this regard, pitchers of barium were stored in a refrigerator located in the nuclear medicine laboratory where radioactive materials are used and stored.
In your reply to this letter, please address this concern by describing your actic,u.
L. den to correct this activity and prevent its recurrence.
