Dear Mr. Norelius:
PRAIRIE ISLAND NUCLEAR GENERATLNG PLANT Docket Nos. 50-282 and 50-306 In response to your letter of May 21, 1981 which transmitted Inspection Reports No. 50-282/81-08 and 50-306/81-09, the following is offered:
Violation Technical Specification 6.5 requires that written procedures for mainte-nance and tests be followed. Administrative Control Directive 5 ACD 3.14
" Control of Measuring and Testing. Equipment," requires 'in part' that when calibrating instruments the as-found and as-left conditions be recorded.
Contrary to the above, test eq' ipment which was calibrated by the site showed only as-left values or a notation of " Cal Check OK" on the calibra-tion record cards. Additionally, some safety-related equipment that is calibrated under the preventative m" Nnance program had a single set of values which was labeled as " Actual on the associated calibration record cards.
This is a Severity Level VI violation (Supplement I).
Respons e The Section Work Instruction which controls !alibration of test equipment will be revised to include the following requirement:
"The Instrument Cal-ibration Card shall be used for recording both as-found and as-lef t data."
Full complicace will be achieved with issue of this revision which is ex -
pected to be complete by July 10, 1981.
