Re: Joseph M. Farley Nuclear Plant - Units 1 and 2 PORV Block Valve Qualification Program By our letter to Mr. S. A. Varga and Mr. A. T. Schwencer dated February 23, 1981, Alabama Power Company agreed to provide a block valve qualification program by July 1,1981.
Alabama Power Company is participating in an industry effort through EPRI to develop a block valve qualification program, however, as of this
. date na finalized program has been approved. A proposed plan of action was discussed with the NRC by PWR utility representatives and EPRI in a meetir.g on April 8, 1981.
Alabama Power Company will continue to follow the development of the EPRI block valve qualification program and will supply additional information on the scope and schedule of the program as it becomes available.
In the event that the EPRI program does not satisfy Alabama Power Company's needs, we will submit a program outline designed to provide qualification of the Farley Nuclear Plant block valves.
