SUBJECT:
TECHNICAL PERSONNEL COSTS IN APERICAN mlCLEAR SOCIETY GRANT The NRC has recently executed financial asJistance arrangements with the American Nuclear Society (ANS) and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) for development of a probabilistic analysis Procedures Guide. It was our original intent that both societies' grants would cover secretariat costs such as meeting arrangements, etc., and costs for professional services by specialists in the field needed in this effort.
This spring we concluded that the NPC contributions for technical specialists who would have been paid through the ANS grant muld be core effectively nanaged if these funds were controlled by a Sandia contract under the direction of Jack Hickman, the director of the Technical Working Group der;ioping the Procedures Guide. Consequently, we made such arrangements through Sandia.
All is in order now except that we have discovered that Sandia cannot cover expenses for services incurred between the start of this activity through April 13. 1981. Please make arrangements to amend our agreement with the ANS to pay for these services thmugh the ANS grant.
