4. CONDITIONS This certificate is conditional upon tfie fulfilling of the requirements of Subpart D of 10 CFR 71, as applicable, and the conditions specified in item 5 below.

l The shipping container is 13.0 inches-long, 7.7 inches high and l

S.3 inches wide. The radioactive source assembly is housed inside l

a tungsten source tube. The source tube is surrounded by l

depleted uranium metal for shielding.

The depleted uranium l

shield assembly is encased in a stainless steel housing.

The void space between the uranium shield assembly and stainless steel housing is ~ filled with a ca:,coble rigid polyuretnane foam.

j The gross weight of the container is 34.0 pounds.

Iridium-192 as sealed sources which meat the requirements I

of special-form as defined in 571.4(0) of 10 CFR Part 71.

(2) Maximum quantity of material per package 30 curies 6.-

The source must be secured in the shield position of the packaging by the source assembly. The source assembly must be fabricated of mateitals capable o' resisting a 1475'F fire environment for one--

half hour and maintaining their positioning function. The source assembly must engage the locking device. The source assembly must be of sufficient length and diameter to provide positive positic.1ing of the source within the depleted urenium shield assembly.

The name plate must be fabricated of materials capable of resisting the fire test of 10 CFR Part 71 and maintaining their legibility.

The package authorized by this certificate is hereby approved for use under the general license provisions of 10 CF,R 571.12(b).
