.[,,7 0FFICE OF INSPECTION AND ENFORCEMENT BULLETIN 80 RII:JPO 50-259, -260, -296 - BROWNS FERRY NUCLEAR PLANT This letter provides the status of modifications related to IE Bulletin 80-15, "Possible Loss of Emergency Notification System (ENS) with Loss of Offsite Power," for the Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant. It supplements my letter to you datec August 29, 1980.
The modification to the EMS power supply was field completed on April 27, 1981. The power supply is now connected to the unit 2 unit-preferred system. The testing was completed on April 27, 1981. The results of the test verified the unit-preferred supply system as the power source.
The loss of offsite power does not affect the unit-preferred system output. The unit-prefe:~ced power is supplied by an ac/dc motor-generated unit with motivating power supplied by Jhutdown boards with backup feeds from diesel generators or unit station batteries for the de motor drive.
In addition, the unit-preferred system may be fed from a shutdown board energized transformer on the unit 3 unit-preferred system.
This same reliable backup power supply also is used for the NRC health physics network telephone.

All actions required by IE Bulletin 80-15 are now complete.
