NRC letters dated December 22, 1980 and February 3, 1901 requested Consumers Power Company review of Big Rock Point Plant's controls associated with the handling of heavy loads. Specifically, they requested a determination of the extent to which the guidelines of Enclosure 1 (NUREG-0612, " Control of Heavy Loads at Nuclear Power Plants") are presently satisfied at Big Pock Point and the identification of what changes and modifications vould be required in order to fully satisfy these guidelines. In addition, they requested the implementa-tion of interim actions provided by Enclosure 2 (Staff Position - Interim Actions for Control of Heavy Loads) and additional information identified by Enclocure 3 (Request for Additional Information en Control of Heavy Loads).
Our review of the referenced NRC letters indicated that only formal responses to are required. However, the NRC staff has verbally requested that we confirm that the interim actions requested by Enclosure 2 have been completed.
This letter, therefore, serves as our notification that the interim actions re-quested by Enclosure 2 have been completed based on our understanding of their direction, except for the specific requirements associated with crane operator visual examinations. We intend to update our existing crane operator visual examinations to be in accordance with the provided guidel'ines.
