PROPOSED IMPOSITION OF CIVIL PENALTIES - $4,000 This is to infonn the Commission that a Notice of Violation and Proposed Imposition of Civil Penalties in the amount of Feur Thousand Dollars will be issued on or about Jun'e 3,1981, to Met Lab, Incorporated. This action is based on alleged violations invol.ving a radiation exposure to a radiographer in excess of NRC limits, and failure to have the radiographer's film badge immediately processed, after his pocket dostneter had discharged beyond its range during the conduct of radiographic -
operations.
Four other violations not related to the excessive exposure occurrence were also found. The nature and significance of those items were such that civil penalties would not be warranted. A news release has been prepared end will be issued about the time the licensee receives the Notice. The State of Virginia will be notified.
It should be noted that the licensee has not been specifically informed of the enforcement action. The schedule of issuance and notification is:
