. MEMORANDUM FOR THE FILES:

FROM: R. Neal Moore I'

IPEI N

os SUBJ: FINDINGS RELATED TO THE PROPOSED IMPORT OF LOW-ENRICHED URANIUM BY THE SEPARATIVE WORK UNIT CORP - ISNM81008 On May 6,1981 SWUC0 submitted an application for a license authorizing the import of 805. kilograms of uranium enriched to 1.6% and 600 kilograms of uranium enriched to 3.42% from Germany. The material'will be packaged in approved, type 30B UF cylinders and delivered to a Department of Energy 6

enrichment plant.

This request is essentially the same as' previous requests to import low-enriched UFg, for example, ISNM780017 and ISNM81001, and represents no material change in cTrcumstances from conditions and findings which existed at the time of the earlier imports.

The import does not present an undue risk to health and safety or to the environment and will not be inimical to the common defense'-

and security.

The staff recommends this license be issued.
