A QI<D Units Nos.1 & 2, Dockets Nos. 50-317 & 50-31 IE Bulletin 81-02
Dear Mr. Grier:
IE Bulletin 81-02 addressed tests performed on various gate valves by EPRI. These tests indicated a number of cases in which certain of these valves failed to fully close under conditions that approximated those of their intended service. The bulletin directed us to determine if we vere using any of these valves or had any as spares.
In response, Calvert Cliffs does not use (or possess spares of) any of the following valves in any safety related applications:
1.
Westinghouse Electro-Mechanical Division (W-DID) 3" valves.
2.
Borg-Warner, Nuclear Valve Division (BW-NVD) 3" 1500# MOVs.
3.
Anchor Darling 3" 15h0# Double Disc valves.
As requested by the bulletin, 15 manhours were spent in conducting this review and 0 manhours for corrective action. Should you have any questions on this =atter, feel free to contact us.
