Your letter, dated April 28, 1981, to Chairman Hendrie has been i
referred to me. We appreciate your interest in the Clinch River l
Breeder Reactor (CRBR).
The Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) s-taff has been developing a program to assure that our efforts are integrated into an overall schedule for the regulatory review of CRBR. We have progressed to the point of establishing review schedules, identifying likely resource requ:rements and furnishing information to various Congrcssional Committees.
The staff estimates that its technical review was about 60% complete when the review was suspended.
If the Administration authorizes the resumption of full scale activity on the CRBR, the assistance of Combustion Engineering's Advanced Development Denartment will be considered.
In the meantime, a meeting such as you hase suggested would be worthwhile.
