NuPac N-55 Pacxaging, Docket #71-9070/B Dcar Mr. MacDonald:

Enclosed is Revision C of the subject Safety Analysis Report drawing.

The revision allows the expanded honey-comb to be replaced by the basic energy absorbing rigid foam.

Numerous full scale thirty (30) foot drop tests have been conducted on packages incorporating this revision.

In all ca.ses, the results show no detrimental effects to the N-55, and more importantly, less deformation to the drum.

After the drops, drums were pressure tested tc 15 psig and found to be leak tight.

The Safety Analysis heport has been amended to include these results and provide justification for the revision.

We ask that this revision apply to all packages manufactured after March 1, 1981.

We ask that Paragraph b, 1, i of the Certification of Compliance be modified to allow 17C or 17H drums as shown in Paragraph a, 2.

Enclosed is our Check Number 5741, in the amt.unt of S150.00, to cover those fees associated with a minor amendment.
