Dear Mr. Keppler:

Clinton Power Station Unit 1 Docket No. 50-461 Construction Permit CPPR-137 The purpose of this letter is to update my letter of July 15, 1980, to you concerning the S&L soil characteristics error in the Clinton Power Station design.

The design analysis work is proceeding and is anticipated to be completed by the end of December, 1981.

The determination of whether this error is report-able per 10 CFR 50.55(e) will not be possible until all design analyses have been completed.

If you have any further questions concerning this matter, please do not hesitate to bring them to my attention.
