Gentlemen:
In res;x:nse to your letter dated February 5,1981, we have reviewd our current fuel rod accountability system. System changes ham been identi-fied which will bring the accountability system in line with the present NPC interpretation of 10 CFR 70.58(h).
Incorporation of these iters will require additional equipment, new pro dures, additional personnel train-ing, and alterations in rewrd keeping systers. The canpletion date for these modifications is scheduled for the spring of 1982. hhen operational, this systen will allow us to identify, locate, and quantify fuel rods with-in the operation. In naaition, final values for all fuel assemblies will be available prior to shipment. We plan to begin using this system after the spring 1982 physical inventory.
Attached is a schedule for develo; rent and installation of the new weighing equi;raent which cxrprises the major portion of the nodified accountability system.
