SUBJECT:
Arkansas Nuclear One - Unit 1 Docket No. 50-313 License No. DPR-51 RPS and ESFAS Equipment Setpoint Modifications (File: 1510.5)-
Gentlemen:
In AP&L's January 30, 198.1 submittal of the ANO-1 Cycle 5 Reload Report a potential concern was addressed concerning RPS and ESFAS equipment setpoints. B&W notified AP&L on January 20, 1971, that work involving RPS and ESFAS equipment accuracies (or measured errors) had indicated discrepancies between revised calculations of these accuracies and those currently used for the FSAR accident analysis. These discrepancies were identified and B&W infomally transmitted the new setpoints to AP&L prior to the ANO-1 Cycle 5 restart.
As a result of the B&W infomation, AP&L made the necessary procedural modifications and setpoint changes to match the B&W revised input.
Therefore, ANO-1 is currently operating with the revised RPS setpoint criteria to ensure safe operation.
Proposed Technical Specification changes will be submitted upon receipt and review of the formal B&W transmittal of the setpoint changes.
It should be noted that the revised setpoints are more conservative than the present Technical Specifications and therefore do not create a conflict between procedures and the existing Technical Specifications.
Very truly yours, b& Y.
