Gentlenen:
This responds to your letter of March 24, 1981, in which you requested an extension of the number of shipments authorized by our route approval letter of December 9,1980.
Approval to make additional shipments under import license ISNM-1651 is granted through December 31, 1 981 The route previously approved has been revalidated and remains' in effect and your proposed pcrts of call are approved, both c.ontingent upon meeting the requirements of 10 CFR Part 73.37 relative to E.avily populated areas.
Recently updated arrangements with law enforcement agencies along the route have been completed by the !!RC staff.
Data relating to these arrangements and a copy of the approved route are enclosed. This information is to be incorporated into your shipnent plans and provided to your carrier along with instrucMons regarding its use.
Please note that assuring highway safety is the responsibility of the licen-see and carrier and our approval does not guarantee that there will be no local or state legislation applicable to the route that restricts or pro-hibits the movement of radioactive material.
During seasonal periods when inclement weather with accompanying hazardous road conditions can occur with short notice, the appropriate state police should be contacted with regard to road conditions before a shipnent com-mences.
Notification requirements of 10 CFR Part 73.72 for each individual shipment apply.
