Dear Mr. Keppler:
Clinton Power Station Unit 1 Docket No. 50-461 Construction Permit No. CPPR-137 My letter of January 30, 1981 on the subject of a potentially reportable deficiency associated with electrical hanger hardware served as a final report o'c. c.M ied fittings and also interim report regarding vendor loading criteria for the electrical hardware.
The evaluation involving the revised design loads has not been completed to the extent necessary to provide an assess-ment of the impact on our present design.
We expect to have this work completed within 90 days and will provide you with a report of our results at that time.
Under the corrective action section of my last letter, I stated that revised shop production methods had been initiated by the Midland Ross/Superstrut Company to eliminate cracking and to ensure that no fittings with cracks or weld repairs would be shipped to the Clinton Power Station.
This was based upon our understanding as conveyed in a letter from the manufacturer in September 1980.
Subsequent to my January 30, 1981 letter, we determined that the shop production merhods had not been revised as anticipated.
Immediate action was taken to insure implementation of our con-tractural agreements with Midland-Ross.
In March, we inspected the manufacturing facility and verified that changes had been made.
During the period from January 30 to March, no fittings were accepted at the site which contained cracks or weld repairs.
